Member Spotlight: Viably – Denver, Colorado

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Viably at their Denver headquarters, where Michelle Giles, Director of Event Marketing, and Christy Hurlburt, Senior Director of Growth, Partnerships, and Marketing, gave me a tour of the office and shared the story behind a company that has become an important equipment partner for the C&D recycling industry and one of the CDRA’s strongest supporters.

Many in our industry may remember Viably by its former name, Komptech Americas. Today, Viably serves as the North American master distributor of Komptech equipment and Harp Renewables food waste biodigesters, as well as the exclusive U.S. distributor of Scott Equipment Company’s food waste depackaging and GypStream drywall recycling systems. Their portfolio includes more than 40 machine types designed for construction and demolition, municipal solid waste, single-stream recycling, and organic waste streams.

This past summer marked a significant milestone for the company. Effective July 30, 2026, Viably acquired Harp Renewables, the Ireland-based maker of modular aerobic digesters that Viably had distributed for several years, bringing Harp’s technology, intellectual property, and installed base of roughly 300 customers worldwide under the Viably name. It is one of the first acquisitions since the company rebranded from Komptech Americas in 2023, at a time when Komptech machines were already installed at more than 800 sites across North America. Brandon has described the move as a response to customers asking for more, and it reflects Viably’s continued evolution from an equipment distributor into a broader waste and recycling solutions partner.

For our members, that range of equipment matters. Komptech’s shredders and screens help operators size and separate mixed materials, and the GypStream system offers a path for recovering gypsum from drywall, one of the more challenging materials in the C&D stream. Rather than simply selling machines, the team takes a consultative approach, supporting operators with parts, field service, and technical expertise so equipment stays running and productive. From their Denver headquarters and their California branch in Sacramento, they serve customers across the United States and Canada.

Viably’s commitment to the industry extends well beyond their own customers. Their President, Brandon Lapsys, serves on the CDRA Board of Directors, lending his time and leadership to help guide the association’s work. For many years, Viably has also sponsored our annual fundraiser at the CDRA Conference, support that directly helps us advance C&D recycling across the U.S. and Canada. That kind of partnership reflects a company that believes in investing in the industry as a whole.

Thank you to Michelle, Christy, Brandon, and the entire Viably team for the warm welcome and the tour, for the work you do to help recyclers get more value from every material stream, and for your many years of generous support of the CDRA.
