Member Spotlight: Iron Woman Logistics – Denver, Colorado

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Maggie Nichols, who leads Transportation and Logistics for Iron Woman, to learn more about Iron Woman Logistics Services and the leadership team behind it.

The Iron Woman story began with trucking. Shaun Egan and his mother Phyllis founded the company as a trucking business in Denver in 1999, and its name honors his great-great-great-grandmother, a full-blood Blackfeet Indian. From those roots, Iron Woman grew into a multidisciplinary general contractor serving the Front Range and the Western United States, with divisions focused on water infrastructure, environmental work, mining, and logistics.

Shaun and Steve Burns, Iron Woman’s President, have guided that growth together. Shaun’s vision built the company from the ground up, and Steve brings deep experience in business development and strategic planning, along with a commitment to public service that includes time on the Planning and Zoning Commission in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Together they have built a company known for taking on complex problems and delivering practical, sustainable solutions.

That leadership led to an exciting new chapter in February 2025, when Green Heron Partners formed Bison Infrastructure Services and acquired Iron Woman Logistics Services as one of its founding businesses. Shaun and Steve now serve as Co-Executive Chairmen of Bison and retain a significant ownership stake, keeping the Iron Woman culture at the heart of the platform as it grows.

Today, Iron Woman Logistics is a leader in aggregates management, transportation, asphalt patching, and material handling for civil and water infrastructure projects, and it provides value-added solid waste and recycling services. For the C&D recycling industry, that combination matters. Reliable transportation and material handling are often the link that makes recovery possible, moving material from job sites to processors and recycled products back out to market.

Safety is at the heart of how the team operates, and Maggie is a big part of that story. As one of Iron Woman’s longest-tenured employees, she became the company’s resident expert in DOT compliance early on and helped build many of the processes the company still relies on. Under her leadership, Iron Woman drivers have earned Colorado Motor Carriers Association honors, including Driver of the Month and Driver of the Year. She also serves on that association’s board and has contributed to the City and County of Denver’s Waste No More task force. Spending time with her, it was clear how much she cares about her team, her industry, and her community.

Thank you to Maggie, Shaun, Steve, and the entire Iron Woman Logistics team for taking the time to meet with us, for the work you do to keep materials moving safely across the region, and for being part of the CDRA community.
