Decker Construction, out of Columbus, Ohio, is one of those companies that exemplifies industry leadership. With the tagline “Doing the right thing before it was cool,” this family-run business has been serving the central Ohio community since the 1950s, and that commitment to doing things the right way is evident in everything they do.
One of the things that really stands out about Decker Construction is their Flash Fill product, operated through their business unit, The Greensboro Corporation. Flash Fill is a 100% sustainable, fast-setting flowable backfill material, also known as Controlled Density Fill (CDF). What makes it truly special is that it is created using Coal Fly Ash — a recycled byproduct of coal burning power plants. This means that instead of that material ending up in a landfill, it is being put to work as a superior, sustainable product.
Decker Construction also operates The Apple-Smith Corporation, which is the only operation in central Ohio running 12 months a year, distributing recycled crushed aggregates among other products. Sustainability is clearly not an afterthought at Decker — it is baked into who they are and how they operate. That commitment was recognized when Decker Construction was named a recipient of the Recycle Ohio Grant from the Ohio EPA, a well-deserved acknowledgment of the work they have been doing for years.
This is exactly the kind of company that makes the CDRA community stronger. They have been doing the right thing for decades, and we are proud to have them as members.
