Thanks to President John Thomas for hosting our most recent meeting on August 28th on behalf of committee Chair Richard Ludt. We focused on a potential new online tool to monitor state legislation and allow members to be more aware of C&D recycling opportunities and threats that might present themselves as a result of local legislation. The tool, called BillTrack50, demonstrated is a 50-state and Congress legislative and regulatory tracking platform. The platform allows you to create searches that are extremely customizable and flexible, saving members considerable time, regardless of which state they are interested in researching. In addition, members can create searches based on their home state, a neighboring state, or all states at the same time.
Beyond this, the platform updates overnight and allows you to create searches based on similar bills that you have researched before. This feature alone may aid in spotting emerging trends that are taking hold in other areas of the country. This is a paid service that the committee may support on behalf of our membership. The committee was pleased with the functionality demonstrated and, as a result, the group suggested that the platform deserves future study. In particular, ensuring that our members have access to information about legislation from their state has always been a key goal for the Legislative Committee and this Colorado-based software company seems to have developed a useful platform. The Executive Committee and then the Board will choose whether to act on this opportunity in the fall. Thanks to Customer Success representative Patsy Ashmore for taking us through this thorough demonstration! We hope you will join us for our next committee meeting on October 28th.
