CDRA Committee Update

Get Involved: See What CDRA Committees Are Working On

The work of CDRA committees is where our mission comes to life—developing programs and resources that strengthen the industry and support every member operator.

Here’s a look at what’s been happening:

Safety and Risk Management Committee
The committee welcomed David Rumsey, Senior Safety Consultant with Marsh McLennan, who presented on the true cost of risk. He broke down how insurance premiums affect profitability, explained premium calculations, and highlighted the financial impact of workplace injuries. His takeaway? There’s never a bad time to prioritize risk management.

Shingle Recycling Committee
This group discussed forming a RAS Lifecycle Analysis working group and began shaping a roadmap for the next Shingle Recycling Forum, tentatively planned for late 2026. They also explored ways to collaborate more closely with roofing contractors. If shingles are a key market for you, this is your chance to help guide the program. New volunteers are always welcome!

Gypsum Committee
Members are working on a new calculator tool to quantify the environmental benefits of gypsum recycling vs. landfilling. An RFP is in the works, and the committee is still seeking volunteers to help move this effort forward.

Member Roundtable
Heather Schuler unveiled the refreshed CDRA website, featuring a modern look, improved functionality, including a searchable resource library, and a more powerful member directory. It’s designed to better serve members and reflect CDRA’s leadership in the C&D recycling space.

Legislative Committee
Jim Taylor of Taylor-Montgomery LLC joined the conversation as members explored how to build regional volunteer teams to monitor and influence state legislation. They also discussed how AI tools could enhance legislative tracking. Thanks to Amy Costello of Armstrong for that idea!
