The CDRA Shingle Recycling Committee meeting focused on updates regarding the Shingle Recycling Forum in Raleigh, North Carolina, scheduled for October 13-15th, and the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study being conducted by ARMA and NAPA. Heidi Ellsworth from Roofers Coffee Shop presented the company’s multimedia platform and discussed potential collaboration opportunities, including promoting the Shingle Recycling Forum and providing contractor outreach services. Vicki Rybl provided an update on the LCA project, noting that 12 companies have committed to participating, with data collection needed by the end of April to maintain the project timeline. Dan Horton presented NAPA’s 2024 recycled materials usage data, which showed 18.5 million tons of RAS used since 2009, with notable decreases in 2024 in several states including Pennsylvania and California. The committee also discussed the development of Version 2 of the Best Practices Guide and addressed questions about the relationship between RAS usage and petroleum prices.
